Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang translates as Peony and Licorice Decoction is an ancient formula recorded by the so-called Chinese Hippocrates, Zhang Zhongjing over two thousand years ago. It was originally created to treat disorders caused by cold that were made worse by use of the wrong technique. Though this formula is prepared with only two ingredients, its ability to relax muscles is powerful.
